Quick informing post on Parteon:

The first build

The first build is ready, you can download it here:

I finished with setting the HUD sections, battle system and basic game mechanics. From here updates finally going to be mostly about content (new levels, enemies, items and continuation of the story, etc.).

Now back to work…

Choice of your actions

I’ll point out that there is no karma points in the game, but in the way of visual novels, the karma system is actually there. Your choice of actions will have consequences. Some of the choices is not that one-sided as it may seem. Like if you’ll give a sick drunk bum a large amount of money for a valuable information, he will die of alcohol poisoning soon after and will give you nothing. So you need to look at the circumstances first.

You’ll get a hints maybe, but that’s the field where the game will not going to hold your hand and lead you through it, everything you do here is on you.

pict_12_hades A few words about protagonist of the game.

Like Princess Trainer’s Genie, in TDLT Hades experienced transformation into a human. Along with that he got a permanent “pervert” perk that leads him to feel a huge predisposition for sex. Being a manipulator, Hades likes to achieve his goals playing mind games.

As the story goes, some of his dark powers stays with him after transformation – he will constantly take advantage by using it. Besides using magic in battle, he can look into a people souls to see their sins and dirty secrets. That covers a few elements in a game’s mechanic.

Although his personality is pretty much fits into a sin fest that happening in the game, I had a moment to consider what role he should take in a battle. That element I had to make up. Personally for me, originaly Hades looks more like a mage than a swordsman, but I have to roll with a “sword swinging mage” because it fits more in the course of adventure story. Beside that we have Lola, who is already a mage.

Also, the guy gives limitations, that feels wrong to deal with as I’m trying to stick with original personalities of characters. Like originaly he is always interrupts personal spaces of people he talkin with. It’s considerably shows his personalily in cartoons, which is hard to express in dialogues of a “visual novel” type of games. Not to mention the heavy use of gesticulation and walking around all the time while talking which is a scheming habbit of this “hard to image right dynamically” motherfucker.

I’ll point out that, unlike Genie with his arabic setting, TDLT protagonist’s affiliation to ancient Greek culture will not take place in the game much. Hades is far away from home for that.
